Frequently asked questions

There is no lesson time that works for me, what do I do?

Please contact Monique's Music through this page or at to organise a time directly!

How frequently should I be having lessons?

Either weekly or fortnightly is ideal as it enables you to continually develop your skills. However, you can schedule or book them in as frequently or infrequently as you wish!

I haven't had lessons for many years, how will I know if this is right for me?

Give it a go! Book a lesson or contact Monique's Music at to discuss your goals and how we can help you achieve these!

Do I need my own instrument?

Yes you do! However, don't fret, the friendly team is here to help. For instrument suggestions please contact us at Whether you are in the position to buy an instrument outright or would prefer something a little less permanent in the form of a hire instrument, we can help you choose the right instrument for you. Please, please, PLEASE don't purchase something off an online site if you are not sure. Although they look beautiful in all the pretty colours or are significantly cheaper, there is a always a catch. Spending a little more upfront will save you on servicing and maintenance fees in the long run! So please reach out, we are here to help and understand the confusing world of instruments.

What else will I need?

To start lessons, you will need an instrument, some music and a music stand. If you need any help with this, let us know!

Can I choose what music I will learn?

Of course! These lessons are for you! You choose what you would like to do and how you would like your lessons structured. If you want to play for fun, we'll play for fun. If you want to do exams, we'll work on exams. If you want to learn Bohemian Rhapsody one week and Hot Cross Buns the next, then we'll do that! The lessons are yours and can be as structured or unstructured as you would like.

Do you teach children?

Yes of course we can also teach children! Monique is a quailfied teacher and has experience teaching all ages and levels. Contact us for more details or if you have any questions or queries!
